The second annual 01/22 The 2009 Oscar
nods are in. I was very please to see Richard
Jenkins get a Best Actor nod for The Visitor, along BSFC’s Best Actor recipient last year,
Frank Langella (for Starting
Out in the Evening). It’s a crowded and well deserving field. I was also
please to see Melissa Leo get a Best Actress nod for the small indie film, Frozen River, but disappointed that this year’s BSFC and Golden Globe winner,
Sally Hawkins for Happy-Go-Lucky, was
snubbed. BSFC’s Best Documentary
winner, Man on Wire was also
nominated in that Academy category and will be our featured film at the BSFC’s annual awards event at the Brattle Theater on
February 9th. Talent from the film will be coming in, check the BSFC and Brattle sites for more
information. 01/21 Reviews of Hotel for
